I Don't Want To Grow Up. I'm a Technology Kid.

Boy, have times changed. When I was a kid our tablets were a lot less complicated. They were usually filled with spiral bound paper between  thin sheets of cardboard. Our choices were wide - ruled or college ruled. You could also choose between 1 subject, 3 subjects, or if you needed 5 subjects you could get that too. Of course you can still get these tablets today in nearly every store that sells office supplies but today when you see a child playing with a tablet it usually isn't the kind made from trees.

So now that most of us adults have been tangled up in the ever emerging web of technology with no hopes and in most cases desires of ever going back to the spiral bound notebook days, here comes PC manufacturers to hone in on our kids and I'm not talking about your average Leap Pad electronic devices. No these tablets are little more sleek in design making your little boy feel like one of the big boys.

Take the  Arnova ChildPad for instance which sports a 7 in screen, 1 GB of ram, an ARM Cortex-A8 consisting of 1 GHz, has wireless capability and weighs a whopping 13.4 ounces. Imagine having to tote around several 1 subject note books weighing in like that.

Then there is the Nabi 2 tablet, this one is a little more kid friendly due to its rubber protective sleeve. This tablet also has a 7 in screen, 1 GB of Ram,  8 GB of storage, A microSD slot, a built in front-facing camera and an Android OS just to name a few specs. and is priced non-competitively at around $199.

Well we know what this means for us adults...emptier wallets but what does it mean for our children growing up in the technology age? These are the kids who read books on Kindle and rarely knows what it feels like to turn the aged pages of an old library book, The Kids who have no clue how relaxing the sound of a vinyl album is when the song has come to an end. These are our kids and as much as we'd love them to appreciate the world we grew up in technology has another plan for them.
